  • Leaving Kauai

Today I fly home! Mixed feelings about it for sure. I can’t wait to see a large group of friends and family, and I’m lucky that I’ll get to do some work while in town (assuming my car will still run). I am NOT looking forward to being “stuck” in one place for two months though. I already know that I’m going to go crazy being back in my hometown for so long, which seems ridiculous when I think about the fact that I lived my entire life there before leaving for this trip. I guess I just want to keep moving. Going on this trip has been the best thing I’ve ever done, and this year has easily been the best of my life. Fortunately, I know I’ll stay really busy in Atlanta while I’m there, and at the beginning of January I’ll be off again! I have no idea where to yet though. Have to figure that part out over the holidays. Anyways, if you’ve kept up with me I really really appreciate it, and I’m always looking for travel friends if anyone is inspired to up and go with me :)

Here is another small video from some of my time in Kauai. Sadly, I spent the last few days here sick, so I didn’t get to do some of the awesome things I had planned. At least I know I’ll be back here before too long! I would miss everyone too much not to at least visit…

    Aloha for now..

  • Beach life..

Only one week left in Hawaii! I’ve been kayaking some more, drove out to Waimea Canyon, and laid around the beach reading for the most part. Katie and Mara have shown me some new places and we have hiking, camping, and a beach bonfire planned before I leave.

    More Kayaking.

No rain lately, so Secret Waterfall was a little dry..

    Waimea Canyon.

Sooo many stars in the sky..

    Cooking around the fire.

Katie and Mara on our walk to Queen’s Bath.

    Tunnels Beach.

  • Kauai week one

Needless to say Kauai is perfect! Everything you look at belongs on a postcard. Colorful flowers and blue water everywhere. I’m staying at my friend Sean’s house half of the time and his sister Katie’s house the other half. Sean works at Kayak Kauai so I get to go Kayaking whenever and Katie has an awesome outdoor tea house with a bed under the stars for guests. Also at Katie’s house are her husband, James, two little boys, and Mara (from Germany) and Jamie (from Atlanta). It’s nice having friends that know their way around the island.

    Leaving Phoenix..

    First Mai Tai!

Up at 1am thanks to jet lag..

Katie and James’ awesome tea house :)

Hiking with my Red Bull and no pants!

Never surfed a day in my life.

I read that this rice paddy was planted in Hanalei for a movie to make it look like Vietnam.

Some kid told me that flower is full of spiders.

Flip and Ari, they belong to James and Katie.

    Mara from Munich :)

    Katie in an awesome bathroom.

One week in! Two more to go. I’ve been considering the possibility of moving here at some point in the not too distant future. I booked my flight to Atlanta for October 24th, home for the holidays!

  • Iceland comes to a close…

I can’t believe an entire month in Iceland is already over. Tomorrow will be a long day…I leave in the morning to catch the bus to Reykjavik, my flight leaves at 7pm, I’m going to spend the night on the airport floor in Denver, fly to Phoenix at 6am the next morning, then I finally land in Hawaii on October 3rd at 2pm. First time back in America in seven months. I’m looking forward, obviously, to seeing friends and family, but I’m already ready to head back out.

I’m spending my last day in Iceland doing laundry in a bucket, cooking dinner, and packing. Ha. Leaving here is definitely bittersweet. It’s beautiful here and I will miss Martin, but I’m ready for sunny Hawaii and he can come visit me in Atlanta in November :)

    Around town.

Well, time to be productive again. I’m attempting to make pot roast for dinner without all of the needed appliances, hoping for decent results. The wet laundry appears to be icing over on the clothesline outside and I need to go buy a bus ticket. More from the Aloha state!
  • Round The World Video

Here is my video from the last 6 months of my life! It includes stops in Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Nepal, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Turkey, Switzerland, and Austria. Currently working on the next 6 months :)

  • Iceland with the boys Part 2

So lucky to have had friends here in Iceland for the last few days! We traveled around the ring road, took too many photos, ate gas station hotdogs every day, hunted sheep, got woken up by a never-ending fire alarm, played cards, drove through a blizzard, saw the Northern Lights, and hiked to glaciers, beaches, waterfalls, and craters. I’ll miss Evan, Chase, and Graeme!

    Black sheep!

Snow at the top of the crater.

    Christmas House!

    Aurora Borealis!

Sooo lucky that we go to see the lights! I’m hoping that it will happen again so I can get some better photos, kind of difficult without a tripod.

I have about a week and a half left here in Iceland. Not really sure what I’m going to do yet! I fly to Hawaii (Kauai) October 2nd, my friend Sean lives there so I have a place to stay. After that I’ll probably be home for the holidays. Then back out, but I don’t know where to just yet. I may have to apply for a work or residency visa somewhere in Europe, or maybe hop around Asia for a few months. We’ll see!

  • Iceland with the boys Part 1

Our time in the southern region of Iceland! Having a great time with my friends…all these photos were taken in one day, Iceland is all over the map :)

  • Two weeks into Iceland

Still in Iceland! Still in Selfoss. But, today I leave for Reykjavik to meet my friend Evan and two new friends from Atlanta. We’re going to drive the ring road around the island, so I’ll finally get to see a lot more. However, I’ve gone to some really beautiful places around here and seen waterfalls, volcanos, and geysirs. Some of these places look like they belong in a calendar they’re so epic. Here are a bunch of photos.

Hitchhiking is safe and easy here so that’s pretty much how we get around.

    Skogafoss, my favorite waterfall..

    Heart attack.

    Sheep!!!!

    She doesn’t like the doctor.

    Okay, enough sheep. For now.

    Lina

    and Rasa.

They work here at Iceland Bed and Breakfast where I’ve been staying, and they set me up doing photoshoots with friends of theirs so that I could actually make some money here. They’re from Lithuania, but Lina lives in Dubai. They’re awesome.

Well that is about it for now!

  • Emotional Landscapes…

Iceland! I love it here. I think it’s the only time/place I’ve been at peace with the cold and rain. So far, the weather here has alternated every other day, one day sunny, the next day rainy. After today it’s supposed to be beautiful for a few days in a row.

It just feels magical here for some reason. Martin works during the day and I wonder around Selfoss or snuggle up on the couch with coffee at our bed and breakfast reading or editing photos. I found out that one of my friends from Atlanta is going to be here in about a week, which I’m soo excited about. They’re renting a car and driving around the entire island and I may get to tag along :) I’ll be here for about a month before flying to (surprise!) Hawaii! I had to make a quick decision about where to go next and Hawaii is one of my favorite places on earth. Iceland may be high up on the list as well, I can’t wait to see the more of the country.

  • A few more days in London

    London…I like it here.

    Chinatown

    Piccadilly Circus

    Original Banksy!

    annnnddd…Abbey Road!!

Gotta admire a man that will almost get hit by a car to document your Beatles obsession for you.

    Natural History Museum

Hanging out with people at our hostel.

and now…hopping a flight to Iceland!! I’m still not sure how long I will be there, my visa is about to run out and I’m very sad about that. I have no idea if I’ll be going to south east Asia, home, or somewhere else afterwards. Hope to figure it out asap..
